La MSC Grandiosa è una di quelle navi da crociera che ti restano davvero nel cuore. Imponente, elegante, ricca di servizi e sorprese, riesce a unire il comfort di una città galleggiante alla magia del viaggio sul mare. Uno degli aspetti che ho amato di più è sicuramente la Galleria Grandiosa, il grande corridoio centrale che attraversa la nave come una via principale di una metropoli moderna: qui si concentrano negozi di ogni tipo, ristoranti, bar e anche un divertente karaoke bar dove ho passato serate spensierate tra amici.

Non posso non menzionare il grande casinò, una vera e propria attrazione per chi ama il brivido del gioco, così come le numerose piscine, in particolare quelle idromassaggio che regalano attimi di puro relax affacciati sull’orizzonte. Il buffet, enorme e vario, è un altro dei punti di forza di questa nave: ogni volta che ci sono stato ho potuto assaggiare specialità da tutto il mondo, servite in un ambiente luminoso e curato.
Non mancano nemmeno una piccola discoteca, un’area riservata ai fumatori e una moltitudine di bar che animano la nave a ogni ora del giorno e della notte. I ristoranti, con la loro atmosfera raffinata, sono un piacere per gli occhi e il palato, anche se a volte il servizio potrebbe essere più rapido: ma anche questo fa parte del ritmo rilassato della vita in crociera.

Ho avuto la fortuna di salire più volte a bordo della Grandiosa: la prima volta solo per una visita, poi altre due volte per una vera crociera con itinerario nel Mediterraneo occidentale. La prima esperienza è stata davvero indimenticabile, una delle crociere più belle mai fatte, complici anche la socialità a bordo e l’atmosfera di festa.
Purtroppo, la seconda volta, dopo la pandemia, alcune cose erano cambiate e l’esperienza ne ha un po’ risentito: la sauna chiusa, l’accesso alle idromassaggio solo su prenotazione (con pochissima disponibilità), la palestra dove era obbligatorio l’uso della mascherina e la discoteca che non era operativa. Anche la scelta di essere seduti a tavoli isolati nei ristoranti ha tolto quella parte di convivialità che rende speciale una crociera, dove il bello è proprio conoscere nuove persone e condividere storie e viaggi.

Resta impressa nella memoria l’ultima “chicca”: nel 2020, sono sbarcato a Palermo proprio il giorno prima del primo lockdown. Ricordo ancora le strade deserte e i volti preoccupati della gente. A bordo avevamo vissuto una settimana di normalità e relax, senza sapere nulla di quanto stava accadendo a terra. Sbarcare in quel silenzio surreale è stato uno shock, come se in una sola settimana il mondo fosse cambiato senza che ce ne accorgessimo davvero.

Nonostante i cambiamenti e le restrizioni vissute nella seconda crociera, la Grandiosa resta per me una delle navi più spettacolari e complete di MSC, una vera regina dei mari dove ogni viaggio si trasforma in un ricordo da custodire.

MSC Grandiosa is truly one of those cruise ships that stays with you. Majestic, elegant, and full of surprises, it combines the comfort of a floating city with the magic of travel at sea. One of the things I loved most is the Galleria Grandiosa—the main boulevard running through the heart of the ship, just like a busy city street. Here you find every kind of shop, restaurant, bar, and even a karaoke bar, where I spent carefree evenings with friends.

I can’t forget the impressive casino, a real attraction for anyone who enjoys the thrill of gaming, and the many pools—especially the whirlpools that offer moments of pure relaxation with stunning views of the horizon. The buffet is huge and varied; every time I’ve sailed on Grandiosa, I’ve enjoyed specialties from all over the world in a bright and inviting setting.
There’s also a small nightclub, a dedicated smoking area, and plenty of bars to keep the atmosphere lively at all hours. The restaurants are refined and elegant, a treat for both the eyes and the palate, although the service can sometimes be a bit slow—but that’s part of the relaxed cruise rhythm.

I’ve been lucky enough to be on board Grandiosa several times: the first time for a ship visit, then two more cruises on Western Mediterranean itineraries. The first cruise was truly unforgettable, one of my best cruise experiences ever, thanks to the vibrant social life and festive mood on board.
Unfortunately, during my second cruise, after the pandemic, things had changed: the sauna was closed, whirlpool access was by reservation only (and almost always fully booked), you had to wear a mask in the gym, and the nightclub was also closed. Being seated at separate tables in the restaurant also took away from that unique cruise conviviality—what makes a cruise special is meeting new people and sharing stories.

There’s one last memorable detail: in 2020, I disembarked in Palermo the day before the first lockdown. I still remember the empty streets and the worried faces. On board, we’d spent a week living normally, completely unaware of what was happening on land. Stepping into that surreal silence was a shock, as if the world had changed completely in just one week.

Despite the changes and restrictions of my second trip, Grandiosa remains one of MSC’s most spectacular and complete ships—a true queen of the seas where every voyage becomes a memory to cherish.
