La mia esperienza a Tortolì risale all’estate del 2016 ed è durata circa due mesi, ero lì per lavorare come animatore in un villaggio turistico, ma alla fine si è rivelata una vera e propria immersione nella vita sarda, in un territorio che mi ha sorpreso per bellezza, atmosfera e ritmo

Tortolì si trova nella parte orientale della Sardegna e anche se molti pensano che il nord sia solo Costa Smeralda in realtà questa zona è molto diversa e forse anche più autentica, non ci sono mega resort o yacht di lusso ma ci sono campeggi, villaggi, spiagge libere e un turismo più semplice e più vero

Durante quei due mesi ho conosciuto tantissime persone, famiglie italiane soprattutto del nord ma anche turisti stranieri dal Nord Europa, molti in camper o in tenda, alcuni in case mobili o bungalow, insomma una vacanza all’insegna della libertà e della natura

L’esperienza da animatore mi ha permesso di vedere il territorio con occhi diversi, svegliarsi ogni giorno con il rumore del mare, passare le giornate tra attività, giochi, risate e serate in anfiteatro, ma anche avere tempo libero per esplorare, per stare da solo e per godermi le spiagge di Orrì che ancora oggi sono tra le più belle che abbia mai visto.

Orrì è un piccolo paradiso fatto di sabbia chiara e mare trasparente, una spiaggia lunga, libera, poco attrezzata e proprio per questo perfetta per chi cerca tranquillità, chi vuole allontanarsi dalla confusione e magari passare ore sotto l’ombrellone senza sentire musica sparata o venditori che ti passano davanti ogni cinque minuti.

A differenza del sud della Sardegna e di città come Cagliari qui tutto è più tranquillo e meno urbanizzato, Tortolì è un paese e non una città quindi ha tutti i vantaggi e anche gli svantaggi della provincia, per esempio ad agosto la rete telefonica va spesso in crisi, internet fatica a funzionare, e a volte è impossibile anche mandare un messaggio.

Ma forse è proprio questo il bello, perché quando sei lì ti rendi conto che disconnettersi è esattamente ciò di cui avevi bisogno, camminare in spiaggia senza scarpe, fare il bagno al tramonto, uscire la sera in un locale all’aperto dove magari suona un dj conosciuto che non ti aspettavi nemmeno di trovare.

Già perché anche se non siamo in Costa Smeralda qui l’estate è viva, ci sono discoteche, locali con musica, eventi, e se vuoi divertirti non mancano le occasioni, tutto però in un contesto meno costruito, meno commerciale e decisamente più umano.

Se stai cercando una vacanza che unisca il mare pulito, la natura vera, un pizzico di vita sociale e magari anche l’occasione per rallentare e respirare a pieni polmoni allora Tortolì e la zona di Orrì possono essere una scoperta che non ti aspetti.

Back in the summer of 2016 I spent about two months in Tortolì on the eastern coast of Sardinia and although I was there for work as an entertainer in a holiday village the experience turned out to be something much more personal and intense a real immersion in local life and nature.

Tortolì is often overlooked when people talk about northern Sardinia because most just think of the Costa Smeralda but this part of the island is completely different more authentic and far less flashy no mega yachts or VIP beach clubs just campsites holiday parks and long stretches of wild coastline.

I met tons of people during that summer most were families from northern Italy or tourists from northern Europe some stayed in tents or campers others in mobile homes or bungalows it was the kind of travel that makes you feel free and connected to the environment around you.

Working as an entertainer gave me the chance to see this place from a different point of view waking up to the sound of the sea spending my days running activities performing at night and also finding moments to explore the area and enjoy some alone time especially on the beaches of Orrì which still remain among the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

Orrì is a quiet paradise with soft sand and crystal clear water a long open beach with no loud music no crowded beach bars and very few facilities which for me is exactly what makes it special it’s a place to relax to switch off to lie under an umbrella and just listen to the waves.

Unlike the south of Sardinia or cities like Cagliari here everything is more relaxed Tortolì is a small town not a city so it has the charm of a slower life but also some downsides like mobile signal issues and internet connection that often just doesn’t work especially in August when everyone’s on the island.

But maybe that’s the best part because once you’re there you realize how good it feels to be unreachable to walk barefoot on the sand to take a swim at sunset and to spend your evenings in open air clubs where sometimes you’re surprised by well known DJs playing just a few steps from the beach.

Even though it’s not the Costa Smeralda Tortolì has its own summer energy with discos bars music and events but everything feels more real less commercial and more connected to the local vibe.

If you’re looking for a holiday that combines clean sea wild landscapes a bit of nightlife and the chance to slow down and breathe deeply then Tortolì and Orrì might just be that hidden gem you didn’t know you were missing.
