Cagliari, Pisa e Firenze

Questo tour un po’ insolito è nato dalla voglia di visitare più città in una settimana con un budget limitato e forse anche dal bisogno di distrarmi dopo una rottura sentimentale visto che la mia ex era stata poco prima proprio a Pisa.

Il viaggio è cominciato da Cagliari che è il capoluogo della Sardegna e una città con due anime ben distinte da un lato il centro storico ricco di ristoranti bar musei e locali pieni di vita anche d’inverno e dall’altro la zona balneare completamente separata dal cuore cittadino con spiagge bellissime affollate d’estate e tanti stabilimenti attrezzati.
Nei dintorni si trovano Quartu e Sestu due località interessanti non solo per ciò che offrono ma anche per il significato dei loro nomi che indicano la distanza in chilometri dal centro di Cagliari un dettaglio curioso che racconta quanto il territorio sia presente nella cultura locale.

La gente in Sardegna l’ho trovata cordiale accogliente e sempre disponibile anche se ho avuto una piccola disavventura in un bar piuttosto elegante del centro dove si sono lamentati per un conto che risultava inferiore di ben diciassette centesimi una scena grottesca che non ha però cambiato l’impressione positiva che ho avuto della città.

Da lì ci siamo spostati a Pisa la città della torre pendente che avevo sentito descrivere con entusiasmo ma che mi ha lasciato un po’ perplesso il centro è piacevole e vivace pieno di studenti bar e locali ma la percezione generale è stata di scarsa sicurezza con spacciatori presenti anche in pieno giorno e situazioni poco chiare ovunque forse è solo questione di zona o abitudine ma non mi sono sentito del tutto tranquillo.

L’ultima tappa del tour è stata Firenze una città meravigliosa che avrei voluto vivere meglio ma purtroppo proprio durante quei giorni ho perso la carta d’identità e questo ha condizionato l’intera esperienza rendendomi più distratto e meno presente.

Firenze però mi è rimasta impressa per il suo centro storico pulito curato e ricco di storia per la vitalità che si respira di giorno e di notte e per la capacità di mescolare eleganza e autenticità in ogni angolo anche se i prezzi non sono tra i più bassi si può comunque mangiare bene senza spendere una fortuna basta solo un po’ di attenzione.

Ci tornerei volentieri con più calma e senza imprevisti per darle finalmente il tempo che merita e viverla fino in fondo.

Cagliari, Pisa and Florence

This slightly unusual tour started with the idea of visiting multiple cities in one week on a tight budget and maybe also from the need to clear my head after a breakup since my ex had been to Pisa not long before me.

The journey began in Cagliari which is the capital of Sardinia and a city with two very distinct sides on one hand there is the historic center full of bars restaurants museums and a lively atmosphere even in winter while on the other there is the coastal area completely separate from downtown with classic Sardinian beaches crowded in summer and filled with beach clubs and services.

Around Cagliari you can visit towns like Quartu and Sestu whose names literally refer to the distance in kilometers from the city center which is a nice cultural detail that shows how connected the people are to the land.

The people in Sardinia were warm welcoming and very friendly even if I did have one strange moment in a fancy bar downtown where the staff made a big deal out of a missing seventeen cents from the bill which was ridiculous but didn’t change the good impression I had of the place.

From there we moved on to Pisa which of course is known for its leaning tower and was described with excitement by my ex but honestly the city didn’t live up to that image in my experience the center is small but lively full of students and nightlife but I never felt particularly safe and there were dealers and weird people around even during the day maybe it’s just a matter of knowing the right areas but I didn’t relax there.

The final stop of the trip was Florence a stunning city with a beautiful cathedral and a historic center full of charm but unfortunately during my stay I lost my ID card and that distracted me for the rest of the visit.

Still Florence left a mark with its energy its elegance and the beauty of its architecture and even if the prices were a bit high it was still possible to eat well without spending too much as long as you paid attention to where you went.

I would definitely go back with more time and no unexpected problems to finally enjoy the city the way it deserves.
