My first plane trip after the Covid period was Athens! A beautiful city and sometimes even underrated but that offers everything for everyone! During my stay I realized that the Greeks are very open people and above all that a vegan could not experience the trip to the best, most of the local dishes are based on meat that is cooked in different ways and often combined with sauces (the Greek sauce is the one that is most in vogue) and it is the place where I ate best ever.
I have only eaten local dishes for the duration of the trip, there is a huge choice and everything is very good, on the contrary it is difficult to find pizzerias or similar. Athens is also very cheap to stay, to move and to take advantage of the various services and the people are kind and helpful. Obviously there is no lack of history with the Acropolis in the lead, Syntagma Square and many museums to visit. One of the things that struck me the most is the anarchic district of Athens (Exarchia) where there are numerous murals and many "alternative" clubs and it is one of my favorite neighborhoods for its charm and strangeness, even there are no shortage of taverns where you can eat and drink at a good price. The nightlife develops in Exarchia in its "alternative places" and in the La Plaka district where there are many more or less large discos (the nice thing is that unlike other places, in Athens you do not need any reservation to enter but just show up and pay the entrance ticket, as in reality should be normal everywhere). Another characteristic of the Greek people is that it is very sexually open and is characterized by the presence of numerous gay / lesbian clubs and by the fact that in four days I have seen many couples of girls kissing passionately but very few straight couples, on the other hand Greece is historically considered a "place of lust" and this spirit nowadays is more alive than ever!
